Snowboard: US star White wins halfpipe gold

Vancouver (AFP) - Snowboarding superstar and defending champion Shaun White won the Olympic men's halfpipe gold Wednesday, dazzling the judges with his tricks - including the gravity-defying Double McTwist 1260.
White scored 48.4 out of 50 in his second run after 46.8 in his first, which was in itself enough to seal the title. Finland's Peetu Piiroinen took silver with a score of 45.0 and Scott Lago of the United States won bronze with 42.8.
Hot favourite White had the luxury of starting his second run knowing he was already Olympic champion - the same situation he faced in Turin in 2006 - after dominating the competition.
After qualifying in first place, White went last in the final and in two devastating displays the man known as the "Flying Tomato" put himself out of reach of his competitors.
One of the stellar names at these Games, 23-year-old White came to Vancouver as the hot favourite having last month won his third consecutive gold in the X Games superpipe.
The field was missing US snowboarders Kevin Pearce and Danny Davis, both of whom were potential challengers to White's crown but were injured before the Games.

حکم محرومیت چلسی از خرید بازیکنان جدید لغو شد
بهمن مرگبار در شمشک
ريزش بهمن در ارتفاعات شمشك تاكنون 8 كشته داشته است. تیم های امداد از چالوس و شمیرانات با دستگاه‌ها و همچنين سگ‌های زنده‌ياب به محل حادثه اعزام شده اند اما كولاك شديد عمليات امداد رسانی را با وقفه مواجه کرده است.
حميدرضا رضايی، مسوول تربيت بدنی آسارای كرج می گوید: تا كنون اجساد فرشيد خليلی، مجيد شهپری، اكبر كشاورز، مهدی خراسانی، حميد كاظم‌زاده، علی‌اكبر ابراهيم زاده و سعيد طاهری شمشك شناسايی شده. سيد جواد درخشان هم به دليل شكستگی كمر در بيمارستان مدنی كرج بستری است.
تاکنون 49 کوهنورد و اسکی باز نجات پيدا كرده اند كه سه تبعه خارجی نيز در ميان آن ها وجود دارد. بر اساس شواهد، يك نفر ديگر هنوز پیدا نشده و تلاش‌ها برای يافتن او ادامه دارد.
منابع خبری از هيات كوهنوردی تهران و كرج خواسته اند نام 2 يا 3 جسد تازه كشف شده را به رسانه‌ها منتقل نکنند چون خانواده آن ها هنوز در جريان جزئيات حادثه نيستند.
کاوه کاشفی رئيس هيات كوهنوردی استان تهران می گوید این حادثه در پی فعاليت لودر رخ داده، برای ما جای سوال است كه وقتی چنين فعاليتی در محور شمشك- ديزين انجام می‌شده، چرا جاده را نبستند و تردد همچنان در آن ادامه داشته است.
فرشاد خليلی یکی از جان باختگان این حادثه، سرپرست تیم ملی کوهنوردی ایران در فتح تاریخی گاشربروم هیمالیا بود
سرمربی جديد استقلال اهواز
محمد احمدزاده كه به دليل اختلاف‌نظر با مدیرعامل تيم فوتبال بندرانزلی از این تیم جدا شده بود، دیروز به عنوان سرمربی تيم استقلال اهواز منصوب شد.
باشگاه استقلال اهواز مدت قرارداد آقای احمدزاده را تا پايان فصل جاری ليگ برتر عنوان کرد. پیش از این قرار بود خداد عزیزی برای دومین بار هدایت این تیم را برعهده بگیرد اما او در آخرین لحظات اعلام انصراف کرد.
لغو محکومیت چلسی
دادگاه حكميت ورزش، محروميت چلسی از خريد بازيكنان جديد را لغو كرد.
CAS با رای نهايی خود كه به دنبال فرجام خواهی باشگاه چلسی صورت گرفت، اين باشگاه را در به خدمت گرفتن بازيكنان جدید و فعاليت در بازار جابه‌جايی بازيكنان آزاد گذاشت.
پيش از اين فدراسيون جهانی فوتبال به دنبال شكايت باشگاه لانس فرانسه، آبی‌های لندن را 18 ماه از حضور در بازار نقل و انتقالات بازيكنان محروم كرده بود زیرا چلسی با روشی غیر قانونی، گائل كاكوتا بازيكن جوان اين تيم را به خدمت گرفته بود.
در بيانيه CAS آمده است: اين دادگاه به اين نتيجه رسيد كه قرارداد چلسی با لانس و گائل كاكوتا معتبر است. به اين ترتيب پرونده شكايت لانس از چلسی بسته شده است.
چلسی اعلام كرد به لانس برای دورانی كه كاكوتا در اين تيم تمرين می‌كرد مبلغی را به عنوان غرامت پرداخت می‌كند.
جام حذفی ایتالیا
بازی های رفت دور نيمه نهايی جام حذفی ايتاليا برگزار شد تا اينتر و رم در آستانه حضور در فينال ککوپا ایتالیا قرار بگیرند.
اينتر با نتيجه يك بر صفر از سد فيورنتينا گذشت. پنج‌شنبه شب در ادامه اين رقابت‌ها، رم بدون لوكا تونی با نتيجه 2 بر صفر اودينزه را از پيش رو برداشت. در اين مسابقه ووچينيچ و فيليپ مكسس گلزنی كردند تا تیم كلوديو رانيری هم به حضور در فينال اميدوار شود.
جام حذفی اسپانیا
در کوپا دل ری، آتلتيكو مادريد مقابل راسينگ سانتاندر چهار بر صفر به پيروزی رسید دو تيم در روزهای آتی دو بار ديگر با هم روبه‌رو خواهند شد كه یکی بازی برگشت جام حذفی و يك مسابقه ديگر هم از رقابت‌های لاليگا خواهد بود.
تيم دوم شهر مادريد که با برد پرگل به این ديدار رفت، به احتمال زیاد می تواند مسافر دور نهایی و بازی فينال باشد.

It’s amazing how fortunes change in a year. On the second Sunday night of Australian Open 2009, Roger Federer imploded in the fifth set of the final against arch-rival Rafael Nadal before breaking down in tears during the trophy presentation. With Nadal then firmly entrenched as the world No. 1 and holding three of the sport’s four major titles, it appeared Federer was a fading force. It was, arguably, the low point of his career.
But while much the world was writing him off, 2009 turned out to be one of Federer’s sweetest seasons. He completed his Grand Slam set with a long-awaited victory at Roland Garros, and broke the record for the most major singles titles won with his sixth Wimbledon crown. While the Spaniard succumbed to a knee injury, Federer returned to world No. 1. Marriage to long-time girlfriend Mirka Vavrinec and the birth of twin girls were icing on the cake. He could now walk onto tennis courts the world over more relaxed - and with nothing left to prove.
Australian Open 2010 proved that Federer’s motivation is as high as ever. It also showed that aside from Nadal, the Swiss is without peer. After a tough road to the final four that included four-set struggles against Igor Andreev and Nikolay Davydenko, Federer went up a gear, eviscerating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semi-finals before brushing aside Andy Murray in a straight-sets final.
In the championship match this time around, it was the Swiss reducing his vanquished opponent to tears. Murray struggled through his acceptance speech, ruing missed opportunities and possibly affected by the enormity of playing in a Grand Slam final against one of the most distinguished champions in world sport. Federer said he felt sympathy for his young opponent during this time.
“I thought he was actually doing fine until he told me, ‘I think there will be some tears’. I'm like, ‘don't worry, it will be all right’. And he actually did (cry),” the Swiss said.
“In a way it was hard to watch, but at the same time I like seeing players who care for the game … It's nice to see, you know. So (I) wish, you know, only the best for him.”
The Scot will look back on those missed opportunities with regret; poised to take the match to a fourth set, he could not capitalise. After Federer won the first two sets relatively comfortably, the third went up a notch in intensity, with Murray securing a break in the sixth game but being broken back as he served for the set. A compelling tie-break ensued – the most exciting and memorable of the tournament – as Murray let slip four set points before Federer claimed the crown on his third championship point.
Like all great champions, the Swiss simply played better on the big points. He shrugged off the disappointment at his failure to convert his match points – particularly when he played a drop shot and then let Murray’s winning reply go by despite having a play on the volley – and played solidly to repress the rampaging Scot, exultantly raising his arms as Murray netted a backhand.
Federer said he was lucky to escape with a straight-sets win.
“After losing that point (with the drop shot), I'm thinking, ‘my God, he just grabbed the trophy out of my hands. I might end up losing this thing’. Two or three points later, I'm the winner after all,” he said.
“It was very much a rollercoaster with the emotions. You just try to stay focused. I guess the match point was over, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God, this is it.’ That's kind of how I felt. It was great.”
Come Monday, there will be a significant rankings shuffle after the Australian Open 2010 results are computed. Murray will rise to world No. 3 behind newly-crowned No. 2 Novak Djokovic, while Nadal will fall to a distant fourth, the first time he has been outside the top three since June 2005.
Yet Federer will remain at the top of the rankings ladder, and the only man capable of sweeping a calendar year Grand Slam. After reaching all four finals in 2009 for two wins and exhibiting excellent form at the beginning of this year, his chances of claiming the rare feat – the last man to do so was Rod Laver in 1969 – would have to be considerable. However, he says it is not something that he is thinking about too much.
“I won't just put (my) entire calendar just around trying to win the calendar Grand Slam,” he said.
“I mean, it's something (that) if it happens, it's great, but it's not something that's like my number one goal. Not at all … I really want to try to enjoy, you know, my end to my career, because I've reached already so many goals I thought were never possible. I really want to just enjoy the tour, and that's what I'm doing at the moment.”
One thing getting in the way of the Swiss achieving tennis’ greatest feat is the depth of competition on the ATP World Tour. Federer said he felt like he is being increasingly pushed by the new generation of stars competing for the sport’s biggest prizes. “When I came on tour, matches were played very differently ... there was always a weakness you could go to,” he said.
“Today, that doesn't exist anymore. I think that's also thanks to guys like (Andy) Murray. They've made me a better player, because I think this (the final) has been one of my finest performances, you know, in a long time. Or maybe forever.”

Andy Murray v Rafael Nadal - as it happened | Australian Open
Match of the Day: (14) Marin Cilic d. (6) Andy Roddick, 7-6 (4), 6-3, 3-6, 2-6, 6-3 -- Let's put to rest all the talk that big men don't have the endurance for five setters. Even though Andy Roddick was ailing with a shoulder injury, he had stolen momentum away in this match, storming back to force a fifth set after dropping the first two at Rod Laver Arena. When the American had three break points on Cilic's serve to start the final set it looked as if Roddick's run in Melbourne would continue and Cilic's breakout Slam would have to come in Paris or London. Because, surely, Roddick would be fresher than the 6-foot-6 Cilic, shoulder injury or not. But much like Juan Martin Del Potro in the 2009 U.S. Open final (and himself in two previous matches at this tournament), the Croatian was able to outlast a smaller rival in a marathon match.
مهدوی کیا به استیل آذین رفت
مهدی مهدوی کیا پس از جدایی از اینتراخت فرانکفورت آلمان، امروز با قراردادی 18 ماهه رسما به تیم فوتبال استیل آذین پیوست تا پس از یازده سال حضور در رقابت های بوندس لیگا، فوتبال خود را در ایران دنبال کند.
کاپیتان اسبق تیم ملی ایران پس از عقد قرارداد با باشگاه استیل آذین در گفتگو با خبرنگاران در مورد علت جدایی اش از تیم آلمانی گفت: "شرایط من در اینتراخت دشوار شده بود. از ابتدای فصل از ترکیب تیم کنار گذاشته شدم و دلایلی که مربی برای بازی ندادن من ذکر می کرد، قابل قبول نبود."
مهدوی کیا علاقه خود را به پرسپولیس، باشگاه سابقش پنهان نکرد و گفت: "من همیشه یک پرسپولیسی بوده ام. اما متاسفانه شرايط گونه ای نبود که به این تیم بروم. ليست بازيکنان پرسپوليس در نيم فصل دوم کامل بود و نتوانستم به اين تيم بپيوندم."
هافبک جدید استیل آذین در پاسخ به این پرسش که آیا مشکلات سابقش با علی دایی، سرمربی پرسپولیس مانع حضور او در این تیم شده است، گفت: " دايی همبازی و مربی من بوده، با او دوست هستم و حضورم در استيل آذين ربطی به مربيگری دايی در پرسپوليس ندارد."
او همچنین تاکید کرد که با تمام توان برای خدمت به استیل آذین آماده است و امیدوار است این تیم سهمیه لیگ قهرمانان آسیا را بدست آورد.
حسین هدایتی، مالک باشگاه استیل آذین هم پس از عقد قرارداد با مهدوی کیا گفت: "ما برای موفقیت، برای همه ستارگان فوتبال ایران با احترام فرش قرمز پهن کرده ایم. به پرسپولیس و بازیکنانش ارادت داریم و خوشحالیم که امروز ستاره های پیشین این تیم را در اختیار داریم."
پیش از مهدوی کیا، علی کریمی، حسین کعبی، علیرضا نیکبخت واحدی و فریدون زندی بازیکنان سرشناسی بودند که این فصل به تیم استیل آذین پیوستند.
مهدوی کیا که بدنبال ناکامی تیم ملی فوتبال ایران در راهیابی به جام جهانی 2010 پس از سیزده سال از تیم ملی خداحافظی کرد، با پیراهن شماره 15 استیل آذین را در لیگ برتر ایران همراهی خواهد کرد.
استیل آذین در پایان هفته بیست و چهارم رقابت های لیگ با 36 امتیاز در رده پنجم جدول قرار دارد.
